Technicolor Dreamcoat / Police activity

There is nothing quite like envy, attempted fratricide, political intrigue and economic upheaval all set to really, loud rocked up music. Okay, so this sort of entertainment excess would not exactly typify Quakers of previous centuries. All the more reason to live it up now.

RantMom scored tickets to Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat for Halloween. RantWoman found herself thinking all the way through it with great love and affection of Lynn, her creativity, her energy, her humor. RantWoman was glad to read upon returning home, that Lynn found her rest this afternoon; RantWoman had been thinking of some kind of symbolic party, but RantWoman is still very tenderly visiting the Caring Bridge site to read everyone's greetings in the guestbook.

RantWoman is including another very sad event here partly because news of "police activity" came over the bus radio as RantWoman and RantMom were making our way home after the musical. For Halloween, the vibe downtown seemed remarkably mellow. There was one sad and disagreeable case, a foul-mouthed woman making heaven knows what arrangements via cellphone when the Rant party boarded the bus; mercifully the woman moved to the back of the bus.

Then came a sequence of announcements on bus radio about "police activity" in an area we know well but did not have to travel through tonight. At home, RantWoman learned the "police activity" turned out to be an officer shot in the line of duty in the middle of one stupicd street gang's turf. Envy and venality are one thing all rocked up on stage; it's quite another in actual. nothing to do but shut up and pray news items. Prayers all around!
