Lest we forget: absolutely VILE #MAGA republican racism

For the record, today's approach to calling out White Supremacy is as follows:

1. The phrase "majority minority" is BS. How about majority non-white. Or racially and ethnically diverse?

2. A great piece on White supremacy culture

3. This video is the latest infuriating manifestion of blatant #GOP racism.

5. May I please claim a whole world of Bad Friend cred because I am thrilled, thrilled that Rudy Giuliani got his butt kicked by Shay Moss' and Ruby Freeman's defamation lawsuit.

Leopards, opportunity, and a likely underreported story...

For trans-friendly prison abolitionists and others who believe in freedom of speech and nonviolent protest but who also are grappling with WTF to do with violent #J6 insurrectionists.

Content warning for the following video: VERY important insights, info about role and charges, data, reference to laws, AND some probably triggering points

Hoping this defendant can connect with someone from ACLU LGBT+ Rights work

And issues stated more obliquely

RantWoman's comment on Youtube, edited slightly and expanded.

Even if her attorney says rejection drove her into the realm of election deniers, how on earth does this woman negotiate being trans among all her rioter buddies in the first place???

Systemically, it's the same thing the NAACP says about the Rice St. jail in Atlanta as defendant Trump prepares to surrender on Georgia state charges: Why not fix the whole jail instead of worrying about one arrestee having to experience it?

Maybe a FEW prison reformers / abolitionists are at a minimum going to advocate for changing policies system wide.

MAYBE a few on the Right are going to experience the same kinds of "come to Jesus" moments about the carceral system as early Quakers experienced while being thrown into prison for all manner of offenses against the established order of the time. Well, MAYBE

#MTG and the SOMETIMES #BackTheBlue crowd are going to sing with the #J6 choir and say everyone should go free even the ones who beat up law enforcement officers and proudly proclaimed on their social media accounts that "hell no, it WASN'T antifa."

Given that sentencing seems to be all over the place even for people clearly involved in violence, RantWoman is slightly interested in the life story arc described in the first video that earned her an 8-year sentence.

And, as someone who has PEACEFULLY protested in the Capitol rotunda, RantWoman's blood BOILS listening to people try to pretend that the mayhem of January 6 was just peaceful strolls through "the people's house."

RantWoman is not super current on every protest in the US Capitol since the founding of the nation. One event that sticks in RantWoman's memory is the 1954 armed attack on the House of Representatives by a group of Puerto Rican Nationalists.

RantWoman is emphatically NOT saying violence is okay; RantWoman IS wondering what would be proportionate accountability for #January6 rioters.

RantWoman also believes in prayer and, again, is not sure what to pray.

Homework for Christian Quakers: Jesus loves Trump. Deal With it or at least pray for his soul.

Tweet Image: Jesus lives in Trump. Deal With it
Judging by their twitter feed
the person who emitted this Tweet
is quite the Trumpling.
Is he also a SECRET QUAKER?

RantWoman is called to take a break from the hellfire aftermath on Maui, the supermarket tabloid level flood of more breathless #TrumpIndictment anticipation to...pray for Defendant Trump's soul!

So many factors contributed to #TFG turning into the horrible person he is today. So many people have enabled his worst instincts, and when people have tried to divert him from his worst ideas, he has been in no space to listen.

So pray for him. Don't let him anywhere near nuclear codes ever. Get him settled into a genteel retirement. House arrest at one of his properties would suit RantWoman just fine as long as #TFG doesn't try to grift the government for the cost of his incarceration, or space under strict mental health supervision if he were to be found incompetent to stand trial.

Pray for Donald Trump. Pray that he stops being able to hog all the broadcast airtime so that we can work on all the other problems facing our country.

And pray that there are LOTS of other people willing to pray for Mr. Trump who are not all nutball gun-worshipping cultists.

And by the way, pray that we can lose phrases like "basket of deplorables."

Peace out.

RantWoman.

Paper cranes of hope and memorial

This collection of links plus wearing a Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists T-shirt to a housing issues and disability event is all RantWoman will do this year to commemorate both Hiroshima day, August 6, and Nagasaki Day, August 9.

DON'T try that in Montgomery!

#AlabamaSweetTeaParty #TryThatInMontgomery #MontgomeryBrawl

Forget conversations about the ethics of punching Nazis ("I recommend you don't," punch Nazis, that is just to mix up memes currently in the zeitgeist.

RantWoman here offers a sampling of videos available on YouTube. Hopefully the videos reflect enough of the story for readers to evaluate a number of points.

"Not on those docks"
"There are a lot of places in the South where a whole lot of horrible horrible things happened that are hallowed hallowed ground."

Reference to a Tucker Carlson bit about "that's not how white men fight."
Ding! Ding! Ding! THANK HEAVEN someone besides RantWoman thinks "Thank god no guns."

Arrest warrants issued for 3 white assailants all of whom already had at least one outstanding warrant for assault.

"Regarding any possible retaliatory action, don't come here with it."

Somewhere in here: mention that the person who invented the folding chair was Black

in context of AL defying Supreme Court ruling about redistricting and a visitation by #TFG
"Hate speech on Twitter has gone up since the purchases purchased it."

PS. RantWoman, why you gotta bring up punching Nazis? This was CLEARLY self-defense.

There is the part about try to bring out everyone's better angles.

Oh, and as for profiling WHITE people who already have outstanding warrants for assault charges...?

Watch to the end for a white guy telling white people why they should stay out of the water this year.

The assailants are not from here.
We are the second most visited city in the state. Please keep coming to visit.

"Lord, help the white people contain themselves when Trump come to town."

"I don't know what was in the hearts of those men" who come up every year.
Previous years,  police said (behavior) was just a prank.

Investigation is fluid. We are looking very strictly...
We hope people will keep coming to Montgomery to enjoy what the city has to offer.

Noted lasting consequences of someone being hit by chair, no matter how many chair memes are going around.

meaning of throwing hat in the air

"It was 3 against the ancestors"
more commentary about visual details

Jami That's me press charges sue I do not care sex or race.
Blunt commentary about voices that minimize race angle.

Update Quaker Call to Action

RantWoman is shamelessly reprinting the following email with minor edits to assist Friends in discerning individually and in our various corporate bodies about how we are called to bring Friends' presence to the current age.

RantWoman also expects to link this post as part of background in other posts

Quaker Call To Action ALERT

The Urgent Call Steering Committee continues to hold our country’s challenging political environment in prayer. As we anticipate the 2024 election season, we have just issued an Updated Call To Action to the Religious Society of Friends. You can find it and download it here. The original Urgent Call continues to be a vital message. Please consider our updated pleas for action and distribute this email and Updated Call To Action widely for discernment by meetings and individual Friends.

We are committed to continuing our work for truth and democracy through the 2024 elections. We will be organizing periodic National Zoom Calls for Friends to come together for encouragement, learning, and support.

The first such call will be held on September 28, 2023, 7-9 pm EDT. We are thrilled that Parker Palmer will open this National Call with a message: "The Better Angels of Our Nature: Love, Truth, Justice & the Work of We the People." We will be sending you a flyer with more details soon. You can register for the September 28 National Zoom Call, as well as future calls and training sessions, on our website.

Even though the polarization, promulgation of lies, and threats of violence that permeate our country’s public discourse are disheartening, and even frightening at times, let us continue to hold to our deep faith in the Light and to notice and affirm the Light wherever and whenever we see it. As Friends we nurture hope, trust, and joy through our worship and work together.

Yours in faith,

The Urgent Call Steering Committee

Marian Beane, Bruce Birchard, Sam Caldwell, Gretchen Castle, Mary Ellen McNish, Diane Randall, Jim Waddington, and Michael Wajda, clerk.

No religious dictator will save the world; no giant figure of heroic size will stalk across the stage of history today, as a new Messiah. But in simple, humble imperfect people like you and me wells up the springs of hope. --Thomas Kelly, The Eternal Promise, "Where Are the Springs of Hope?" 1939_

First pass reactions:

1. It's not all about the Presidential elections. Discuss.

2. When and how are we as Friends called to wade into difficult and contested territory with love and forthrightness?

Knock 'em dead, with cat and fighter planes.

Black cat, white woman with grey hair and glasses, green plant
Onyx and RantWoman

We interrupt this age of #ClimateCatastrophe, hot tub temperature seawater, Raytheon marketing drone war proof of concept with autocratic lunatic on the side, gut-wrenching refugee and border stories, culture war fearmongering, and repetitive EX presidential indictments to offer....

a simple pet memorial.

To my adoring public--and anyone else who stumbles onto this post.

This has been sitting for a couple days and I am sharing it with various clumps of people in my life. One of the joys for me of online worship is getting to "meet" other people's creatures. Friends who have met me in Zoom worship may have met my cat Onyx.

I had to take Onyx to the vet on Wednesday. She did not come home.

I am probably still a couple nights sleep away from being able to talk much assuming I could even hear myself think over the #BlueAngels.

A short remembrance for my cat Onyx and special thanks to the cab driver who drove us to the vet because cultures and creatures and customers are sometimes an awkward combination.

I knew Onyx was at least 16. The vet she was 18. She has had the same vet since getting spayed after a bit of teenage motherhood and a stint with a weighty Friend before she came to me on an FGC-related catsit and stayed on to live with me.

The vet said sometimes older cats get hyperthyroidism and burn all their fat really quickly. Onyx could barely eat or drink and aside from reluctance about hundreds of dollars of tests, I could not face daily medication struggles even if there were medication that would help. So I let her go and also let her not come home in an urn. I feel okay about that because of many pictures.

Okay I still miss her meows when I come in the door but I am to the steps of giving away cat food and other cat things that she did not use anyway.

Onyx was totally my pandemic buddy.

Onyx made it clear sometimes when I wanted to cry and mope that she would not tolerate too much of that and needed me to hold it together. This was weirdly helpful.

Onyx sent all sorts of tail-twitching alerts when any of The Pigeon menace wanted to land on our window ledge.

Onyx was not nearly as adventurous as my previous cat. For instance, to my relief actually, she had absolutely no interest in strolls along the railing on our balcony 4 floors up from the patio.

At this point I am more or less okay, sometimes more, sometimes less, grateful for longtime companionship.

Thank you all for sharing this journey.

In Light and Faithfulness

(RantWoman)

Former Republican Chair GOES NUCLEAR on His OWN Party | PoliticsGirl

It's a new month. Time for a new face of the #GOP.

True, RantWoman is probably one of the last people the #GOP should ask for advice, especially when a former PARTY CHAIR has so much to say.

SINÉAD O'CONNOR on ART and FAITH | The Heaven and Earth Show | BBC...

RantWoman actually has never gotten very familiar with SINÉAD O'CONNOR except for the part about ripping up a picture of The Pope on Saturday Night Live.

RantWoman does feel it fit to honor her presence ant to post a link to one interview with trust that readers who want to fall deeper into her story will find abundant help on Youtube.

Multiple comments about the last year or so of her life now carry some kind of message like the following: If you are in crisis or feeling suicidal call or text 988 or go to 988.org
