The trouble with going to one memorial is that sometimes one learns of others on the horizon, or even worse a memorial involving a violent crime. RantWoman is of course morbidly curious about the violent crime circumstances. RantWoman has not even tried to pursue details , and an actual memorial is some ways off.
The deceased gets to be simply D and RantWoman has been exchanging condolences with Mrs D. Mr. and Mrs. D net in worship several years ago. The y quietly got married and faithfully worshipped together for a long time.
D was a professional fisherman who worked in the Bering Sea. In RantWoman's world, this means both conversations about catch limits, what kind of seafood could even be harvested, as well as a few words of courtesy Russian. Along with critical care for the environment and the politics of catch limits, for RantWoman anything involving the Bering Sea and international fisheries issues also evokes images of danger lurking around every corner.
Anyway, RantWoman will remember and silently say a prayer for D every time the subjects of fishing and fisheries management in the North Pacific come up in conversation.
