Clear Hearts Quaker Circle formed out of a need for a Quaker community that
has its foundations in *radical inclusion and anti-racism work*<https://clearheartsquaker.org
spiritual gifts are best nurtured and expressed within a framework of deep
belonging, reconciliation, justice, and hospitality.
Like FLGBTQC, we know that "radical inclusion and radical love bring
further light to Quaker testimony and life." Our unique experiences of God
or Spirit or the Light or Holy Darkness, or simply the wonders of the
universe, must be received with open hearts and minds.
Also like FLGBTQC, "we are still learning to spread love in the face of
rejection and hostility and to embrace new friends." We want everyone to be
able to be their full, authentic self– if someone does not feel welcome,
the problem is us, not them.
Members of the LGBTQIA+ community have too often had to guess as to whether
they will be welcome in a particular faith community (especially if they
exist in the plus sign after LGBTQIA). We welcome to Friends of all sexual
orientations (including but not limited to lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer,
asexual, and straight orientations), gender identities (including but not
limited to transgender, nonbinary, and cisgender identities), and
relationship structures (including but not limited to polyamorous,
polyfidelitous or monogamous structures), and we celebrate the family
relationships that are established in our community.
We support relationships with enthusiastic consent between adults, and
mutual respect, care, and acceptance of responsibility for others’
well-being. We also acknowledge that society tends to privilege romantic
relationships over others, and we value and celebrate those who are
single/unpartnered or aromantic.
We recognize that racism has shaped our culture and has shaped Quaker
history and practice, that faith communities do not always consider
accessibility needs, and that American society does not always speak openly
or fairly about class, or the unique issues that arise from the experience
of navigating life with lower income or fewer educational opportunities.
We hope to work together as a community to not only honor the lived
experiences of those who have been harmed, but also to provide resources
and support to the people who need it most. We remember their joy, their
wisdom, their strength, and their gifts along with remembering their
oppression.
Clear Hearts currently holds all of our Meetings for Worship in our *Zoom
meeting space* <https://clearheartsquaker.org
use our financial resources to do some other good in the world. We meet on
Sundays at 11:45 AM, Pacific time. Our worship is unprogrammed in the
Quaker tradition-- we gather in silence together in expectant waiting,
until someone is led to share a message. On some Sundays, the community
might feel most spiritually nourished by mindful, complete silence.
We would love to have you join us! If you have questions or concerns, or
would just like to chat, we can be reached by email at
