Finland files criminal charges in connection with 2024 anchor dragging / cable and gas line cutting.

Finland's major show of force against Putin after Baltic Sea cable sabotage

RantWoman is unclear that Baltic Sea comings and goings of Russian shadow fleet, accompanied by multiple rounds of anchor dragging and cable cuts are automatically of great interest to readers of this blog, but RantWoman posts anyway.

Key obvious concerns:

--Not much commentary about environmental issues including both immediate risks from pipeline cuts and the larger impacts related to greenhouse gas emissions.

--India and China are quite happy thank you very much to buy Russian oil and gas at lower prices than Russia would prefer. Russia has to keep pumping oil to hold its economy together but it cannot sell at prices it would prefer on the world market because of sanctions.

With Finland and Sweden now members of NATO, there are a number of possible military flashpoints in the Baltic Sea and Russian arctic.

The world of international shipping and registries of convenience can make it really difficult to find legal venues to address serious problems.

RantWoman is by no means well-versed in the minutia of sanctions or in the economics of global energy markets, but it is clear that Russia is bearing a heavy economic burden from its war and really should find a way to bow out. Will the US President be of ANY help????

And while Russian hits civilian targets in Ukraine, Ukraine attacks transportation, pipelines, and military supply lines.
