FWCC at ARE

RantWoman has been reading Meetings' ARE schedules. Tonight RantWoman finds herself meditating about what she would say to people new to Quakers about FWCC and what hooks might keep people interested even if they think they have little time.

--Prayer across differences ( x about 6 examples)

--paths to language access and holding events more in the global south.

--Support for young people in different countries where there is a draft to share information going through whatever the process is for conscientious objector status.

--Disability:  Life was hard at the last triennial for anyone with mobility problems. Also, if someone says something insentive about abortion to a mother of a special needs child, the hurt can last awhile and being ready to talk sometimes means having gone through something intense together.

--Concept of listening in tongues.

Hallelujah. Praise Jesus. Someone in the universe has been at least tacetly listening to RantWoman "The Five Wishes" are a search engine thing.

The Five Wishes is a document featured in the latest Merry Christmas / oops Happy Lent Let's Talk about (stuff before) Death on the calendar in the vicinity of RantWoman. RantWoman popped The Five Wishes into her favorite internet search engine. Out popped:

-- The Five Wishes Website

--A document which RantWoman thinks she remembers from a previous workshop experience in English, in an electronic form RantWoman can mostly read. One teensy leap further would be if the document could be filled out online instead of RantWoman either filling it out herself in fat pen and risking readability or having someone else fill it out without RantWoman being able to read it. But online and in English is an awesome start. And NO, RantWoman does not exactly apologize for this level of mind-numbing detail meditation about the concepts of document accessibility and alternate formats. Maybe RantWoman in language nerd mode will get over her need to remind everyone of vocabulary important to her. Maybe some day.

--Even better for the likes of language nerds like RantWoman: the 5 wishes document has also been translated into something like 27 languages.  Hallelujah. Praise Jesus. That means when RantWoman is wearing her Language Nerd Pride / Interpreter hat and encounters this document she does not have to sight translate it! RantWoman can barely contain her joy about this discovery even if the people she tries to share her joy with greet RantWoman's elation with puzzlement, want to duck "unnecessary detail," .

Stay tuned for further discernment about themes related to the workshop and to RantWoman's current ferocious twitch about tending to the lives of Friends RantWoman is fond of BEFORE their memorials. And if it seems like RantWoman is stuck and fixated and utterly dismissive of absurd things that come out of Quaker process, tough! Cope! Consider it an opportunity to practice MORE Quaker process and maybe even to learn more about blind people in Meetings.

Ashley Wilcox Annual Ministry Report

Ashley Wilcox Ministry Report 2019

--RantWoman is delighted to see Ashley gaining experience and confidence about teaching.

--RantWoman feels very grateful for Friend Ashley's leading and opportunity to do The Women's Lectionary. This lectionary is badly needed and Ashley is a great person to tackle the project. RantWoman can hardly wait until the book comes out but definitely will want an e-book.

--Ashley's report mentions a number of formal detachments and layings' down.IT does not seem to RantWoman, based on presence in social media and participation in Quaker events that Ashley is as detached as it might seem from the process narrative. May she continue to find love and support as she is true to her Light about how to use and how to take care of her gifts.

While contemplating something else via Meetup, noted without further commentary.

RantWoman's febrile mind could easily wander down several different rabbit holes based only on the few words here and RantWoman's perpetual battle to get enough sleep..

Sunday Service--Sleep: A user's Guide

University Heights Center Room 209.

And with that, good night; time for RantWoman to try to sleep more.
