Damaged cargo ship full of explosive fertilizer from Russia needs a temporary port.

It is probably just as well that #COVID kept RantWoman from contributing her whole flotilla of world conflict on the world's oceans twitches to the Quarterly Meeting Building Boats That Float exercise.

One of the ships in the flotilla

So, should we panic or not panic?

Is this particular damaged boat story even anywhere in US Voters' consciousness?

RantWoman considers the What's Going On With Shipping? YouTube channel a valuable source of solid, reliable, reality-based information.

And sometimes RantWoman adds up the facts presented a little bit differently.

This video has what RantWoman consider's a solid description of the boat's routing but it is not clear how the hull and rudder got damaged.

RantWoman's comment on YouTube:

Between malice in the current political environment and historical Russian sloppiness / incompetence I would definitely not assume the boat is loaded as it is supposed to be. What would a port want to know about that before thinking about logistics of off-loading the cargo? I am pretty sure Klaipeda in Lithuania would say "No, absolutely not, not under any circumstances" do they want a Russian connected ship dry-docked in their port. Nope. No way. No How! Possibly out there question: Which would be a worse disaster, blowing up the ship on the surface or having it sink with all its cargo on board? To put it another way: would an explosion burn all the ammonium nitrate or would that still need to be dealt with after the explosion? I don't need to know more of an answer than which would be a worse disaster. The question just comes to mind. It's lovely to know that there are many much more dangerous vessels on the world seas, but this is the one in crisis right now.

In short, up near Putin's nuclear saber rattling in emotional stress. Take seriously the circumstances, but think cautiously and keep panic to a minimum
